Relationship Manager Associate 

The Relationship Manager Associate (RMA) provides administrative processing support to both the Loan and Deposit teams while providing a high level of customer service to customers. The RMA performs various support duties pertinent to meeting the needs of Farmers State Bank customers and functions as an extension of the Loan and Deposit teams for sales opportunities and brand awareness.
Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Provide support to Loan and Deposit teams as needed.

2. Receives retail and commercial checking and savings deposits by determining that all necessary deposit documents are in proper form, and issuing receipts.

3. Cashes checks, savings withdrawals and makes cash advances; confirms all necessary documents are properly authorized, are in proper form and are within authorized limits; makes decisions when questionable items are presented for cashing.

4. Operates personal computer to process account activity, determine balances, and resolve problems within given authority.

5. Issues official checks.

6. Assists with night depository duties; logs bags; processes deposits; makes change orders; issues receipts and returns bags to customers.

7. Cross-sells the Bank’s other products and services, referring customers to appropriate staff as indicated.

8. Performs safe deposit duties by opening accounts, controlling access, assisting customers and processing affiliated reports.

9. Receives and processes stop payment and hold orders.

10. Accepts loan and installment payments.

11. Balances cash drawer daily and verifies cash being returned to the vault.

12. May assist in opening and closing the vault daily; assists in balancing vault currency and coin.

13. May assist in adding currency to the ATM; assists in balancing ATM daily.

14. Processes debit card applications, card ordering and file maintenance.

15. Records, files, scans documents, updates information, prepares wire transfers and sorts mail or reports as required.

16. Answers telephones and/or greet Farmers State Bank visitors, providing assistance and direction as appropriate.

17. May gather data and process various reports (e.g., currency transaction, returned items, overdrafts, callbacks, etc.)

18. Processes change orders and deposit slip corrections.

19. May assist in reviewing Mobile Banking daily.

20. Discusses, prepares, and processes documents related to the Bank’s electronic banking services.

21. Participates and directs day-to-day operations for the branch; approves large deposits and withdrawals; reviews and acts on daily reports; and ensures the branch is maintained in a neat, clean and attractive manner.

22. Change orders and deposit slip corrections.

23. Assists consumer and business customers in their selection of various accounts, products, and financial services available from the Bank; ensures cross-sell opportunities are presented by applying professional sales techniques.

24. Interviews customers to obtain information; establishes proper identification of new customers; determines need and extent of reference investigation; assists customers in completing credit applications.

25. Makes decisions regarding the opening of new accounts; assigns account numbers; completes forms requiring customer signature(s); checks credit history; accepts initial deposits; prepares all documents and items pertaining to checking accounts, savings accounts, and certificates of deposit for processing.

26. Reaches out to prospective customers to generate new business.

27. Processes various loan transactions; consumer, commercial and real estate loan payments and advances; processes reports and callbacks.

28. Provides effective customer service by answering customer questions; investigates and corrects errors; and resolves problems and other issues.

29. Provides troubleshooting information when applicable.

30. May assist in opening and closing the vault daily; assists in balancing vault currency and coin.

31. Processes wire transfers, address changes, check and deposit slip orders, and endorsement stamp orders.

32. Maintains files, copies and faxes documents, and orders and distributes supplies.

33. Ensures organization of the branch, coordinating available resources (e.g. staff, materials, etc.) for maximum results.

34. Assures audit compliance and procedure quality control.

35. Conducts security alarm testing; reports to Security Officer quarterly to ensure proper testing is complete.

36. Prepares and organizes documents to send with the courier for other branches.

37. Provides support to all assigned areas of the department where service or assistance is needed; acts as a backup for various loan department positions and functions.

38. Responds to inquiries or refers inquiries to the appropriate department or person and exhibits the necessary follow through with customers and/or staff involved.

39. Performs duties which include reviewing work for accuracy and completeness, assisting others in resolving problems, approving transactions within authority levels and training others in department operations.

40. Prepares and reviews all account documentation to loans, and monitor the administration of the loan closing process.

41. Review loan files to ensure file completeness.

42. Performs all related Loan Department responsibilities including, but not limited to, running credit reports and conducting account research; processing consumer, commercial and real estate loan payments and advances; reviewing loan approvals for completeness; generating loan documents; preparing and sending commitment, engagement, auction and decline letters; and maintaining credit files.

43. Assists loan officers and other personnel to ensure proper related documentation is prepared and/or provided.

44. Provides effective customer service and assists in resolving problems within given authority.

45. Calculates loan pay off amounts for all types of loans.

46. Cross-trains less experienced loan department personnel in all loan servicing functions.

47. Performs official notary services as required.

48. Types routine letters, reports and forms.

49. Maintains adequate supplies and file area; fills copiers, fax and printers with paper and ink as needed, and monitors customers access areas to ensure relevance and timeliness of marketing materials and publications.

50. May update and maintain financial statement, cash flow and tax return documentation in loan files.

51. Actively work to develop relationships with all Bank partners to identify cross-sell opportunities and referral business.

52. May represent the Bank in various community and civic functions to further enhance the Bank’s image and develop additional business.

SECONDARY DUTIES

The position of Relationship Manager Associate performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY 

The position of Relationship Manager Associate is not responsible for the supervision of any employee(s). However, the incumbent is required to provide leadership, training and support to less experienced Bank personnel. The incumbent in this position may perform duties in the absence of the Branch Supervisor or Loan Officer. 

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The position may include driving a Bank or personal owned vehicle which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.

The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 50 pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), check protector, scanner and image systems, scanning equipment, encoder, money counter, credit card terminal, typewriter, computer, laptop computer, personal computer and related printers, or other equipment as directed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related. 
  • Basic experience, knowledge and training in branch operation activities, terminology and products and services. 
  • Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies. 
  • Basic skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing and spreadsheet software as well as Microsoft Office. 
  • Basic typing skills to meet production needs of the position. 
  • Intermediate knowledge of general office practices. 
  • Basic math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner. 
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees. 
  • Ability to deal with routine problems involving multiple facets and variables in standardized situations. 
  • Proficient in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; and word processing, spreadsheet and account opening software programs as well as Microsoft Office products. 
  • Good organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties. 
  • Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
