IMPORTANT INFORMATION: About Transport Layer Security (TLS)

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a protocol that ensures that a connection to a remote endpoint is securely encrypted in order to provide privacy and data integrity. Farmers State Bank’s Online Banking uses TLS as a key security component. TLS 1.2 is the most current version and is considered to be the most secure. TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are earlier, now less secure versions.

Browsers and operating systems that support TLS 1.2 will, in most cases, use it by default preferring the TLS 1.2 connection over older, less secure encryption protocols. This change will require the use of TLS 1.2 to access Farmers State Bank Online Banking. On April 9, 2018 online banking users will be required to connect using operating systems and browser versions that support TLS 1.2 and ensure that TLS 1.2 is enabled.

What if my Operating System/Browser is Not Compatible with TLS 1.2?

If your operating system or browser is not compatible with TLS 1.2, your computer will not be able to make a successful connection to Farmers State Bank’s Online Banking. For your security, Farmers State Bank recommends that you update your computer operating system and browser to be TLS 1.2 compatible.

Error Received that the Browser Cannot Display the Webpage

If after April 9, 2018 your computer is displaying the above error message it is indicative that your operating system or browser is not compatible with TLS 1.2. As a result, your computer is not able to make a successful connection to Farmers State Bank’s Online Banking. For your security, Farmers State Bank recommends that you update your computer operating system and browser to be TLS 1.2 compatible
