Loan Specialist – Full Time 

The Commercial Loan Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of commercial loan documents enabling the Loan Officers to spend time prospecting. The Commercial Loan Specialist is also responsible for maintaining ownership of each commercial loan file in all aspects from initial due diligence review to loan closing.

 

Responsible for loan specialist duties, including but not limited to the following:

1. Reviewing loan application package for accuracy and completeness

2. Verifies appropriate levels of authority for loan approval

3. Reviews loan approval letter for accuracy

4. Obtains and reviews entity documentation to determine authorized signers for legal documentation

5. Ensures loan approval conditions are satisfied thoroughly and all lending policy conditions are satisfied and approved by appropriate authorized levels

6. Ensures all Bank requirements are met and documented

7. Maintains accurate and complete customer communication logs

8. Reviews preliminary title/title report and escrow instructions/sales contract for accuracy and to ensure Bank's lien is properly secured

9. Reviews all third party property reports to ensure accuracy and that all relevant data is included

10. Communicates with Loan Officer, Title Company, escrow agents, and/or customer to relay loan approval and facilitate the loan closing

11. Review executed loan documents to ensure integrity of documents and proper execution

12. Responsible for ensuring that the Bank's lien is properly secured and that acceptable title insurance, flood insurance (if applicable) and hazard insurance is obtained

13. Ensures all conditions have been satisfied and signed off by appropriate authorized levels

14. Coordinates loan closing and funding of the loan


15. Provide leadership role in the implementation and continued use of the Suntell Loan Management System (LMS), Suntell Document Imaging System (SDI), and Suntell AgExam software.

16. Assist loan officers with Loan Presentations utilizing Suntell software.

17. Assist with loan closings on premise.

18. Prepare and assist creating various reports.

19. Perform Quality Control Audits.

20. Review loan documentation before distribution to Loan Officer.

21. Assist with and recommend new processes to improve department efficiencies.

22. Update and/or create loan department forms. Revise existing forms to increase efficiency and eliminate duplicate efforts.

23. Update documents as changes in policies and procedures occur.

24. Assist with loan systems and software training.

25. Update the Loan Rate Schedule as changes in lending interest rates occur.

26. Preparation of funding documentation including but not limited to boarding data for data processing system, reconciliation of fees and deposits, and satisfaction of loan compliance issues

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Understanding of commercial real estate loan documentation and business loans, all applicable Federal regulations and requirements and commercial lending guidelines as well as SBA

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Self-motivated with ability to work independently and make informed decisions

Strong reasoning and analytical skills

Ability to follow instructions with attention to detail

Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office/Word/Excel in the Windows environment

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred

Experience in documenting and funding loans with general knowledge in all areas of Loan Processing and/or Funding preferred.

Minimum 5+ years of direct and in-depth work experience in commercial loan processing including experience in SBA Commercial Real Estate lending with knowledge and familiarity with SBA 7(A), 504 loans and construction lending preferred.

 

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The incumbent is in a non-confined office type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The position includes driving a Bank or personal owned vehicle which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.

The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 50 pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, Blackberry, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), check protector, scanner and image systems, scanning equipment, encoder, money counter, credit card terminal, typewriter, computer, laptop computer, personal computer and related printers, or other equipment as directed.
